THE MINIMAL GRADED FREE RESOLUTION OF THE UNION OF TWO STAR CONFIGURATIONS IN Pn AND THE WEAK LEFSCHETZ PROPERTY

Abstract

We find a graded minimal free resolution of the union of two star configurations X and Y (not necessarily linear star configurations) in Pn of type s and t for s; t (cid:21) 2, and n (cid:21) 3. As an application, we prove that an Artinian ring R=(IX + IY) of two linear star configurations X and Y in P3 of type s and t has the weak Lefschetz property for s (cid:21) ⌊ 1 2
